BRECON JAZZ STAKEHOLDERS
Terms of Reference
A new Brecon Jazz Festival Stakeholder Group was originally established in 2012 following the withdrawal of the previous operator, Hay Festivals and continued by Orchard Media Ltd (Cardiff) until 2015. The group comprised of local strategic representation, and was attended by officers from Community Regeneration (Powys County Council)
and the Arts Council of Wales. This group is now replaced by the Brecon Jazz Music Trust & Festival, a Community Benefit Society (establised in 2015) which is commited to ensuring the long term survival of the Festival and to it's continuity. The latest festival programming appears on the official website breconjazz.org.
The purpose of the Brecon Jazz Music Trust is to provide a strong
local input into the process of identifying and supporting the Festival operators & contributors, and to ensure
that the Brecon Jazz Festival achieves real community involvement. The Trust is both a consultative
forum, and a decision-making body.
This voluntary group is responsible for:-
• sharing information and ideas relating to Brecon Jazz Festival
and its future sustainable development;
• informing potential considerations to be factored into the brief
and timetable for the appointment of local promoters of Brecon International Jazz Festival;
• providing a local forum throughout the process of putting in place
additional promoters, the mounting of a Festival, and beyond,
and offering perspectives on the success or shortcomings of Festival delivery;
• being a forum for galvanising local inputs that can ensure aspects
of the sustainability of the future of the Festival.
